What can I expect to happen during my Service Call?

Servicing your appliance in your home is very convenient, but keep in mind that in the process of the repair we will be opening up your appliance and exposing hazardous electrical parts and wiring, sharp edges, moving parts, and other dangers. We require that for your and your family’s safety, as well as the safety of our technician, please keep everyone at least four (4) feet from the appliance while we are servicing it. (This includes your pets, we like them too!) However, please don’t go too far away, as your technician will need to ask you questions to aid in the diagnosis and evaluation of your appliance. We may need your help in locating your circuit box, water/gas shut offs, and we will need to show you the problem and explain the repair and pricing. Always feel free at any time to mention any information that might be helpful.

Q: Is there a fee for the Service Call?

Yes, there are many costs involved in a service call to your home and they begin long before the technician rings your doorbell. Travel time, office expenses, wages, phones, insurance, gas and truck, etc. There are too many to mention them all here. Our service call charge barely covers and sometimes exceeds our costs, as we try to keep this charge minimal. The service call charge includes travel time and travel costs, as well as minimal diagnostic time cost, and varies depending on product.

Q: What if the Technician is unable to repair the appliance when coming out for a Service Call?

A first time completed repair is our goal. We work very hard at attempting to repair your product on the first trip; it is more convenient for you and also lowers our costs. We stock most fast moving parts on our trucks, and we bring more when available. However it is still sometimes necessary to order a part. In those cases, there is NO additional service call charge for the return trip. We will only charge for the parts, shipping and labor on the return trip. We will need to collect a non-refundable deposit for special orders, as well as the original service call. This covers our freight and restocking costs if you would cancel. If your technician is able to repair your product during the initial Service Call but you choose not to have it repaired, there will be additional charges for a return trip to your home if you decide to have it repaired at a later date. Estimates are good for 30 days only. (We can also service other appliances today while we are already in your home and at a reduced cost.)

10 Year Limited Parts & Lifetime Workmanship Warranty

Limited Lifetime Warranty

Our limited labor warranty in regard to correcting defects in our workmanship is lifetime – there is no time limit. However, if a part fails owing to a manufacturer’s defect or normal use and wear our labor is covered for 90 days. The service call charge is warrantied for 30 days only on the same machine. There is no warranty against additional or more extensive repairs, against other problems that may occur on the same machine (even if involving identical symptoms), or against incidental damages. Parts carry the manufacturer’s warranty, which is usually 30-90 days. After the manufacturer’s warranty expires we will add our 10 year prorated part warranty at no additional charge. Residential customers only, commercial use is manufacturer’s warranty only. Part warranty prorate schedule:

Within 90 days 100% (Parts and labor) – Customer is responsible for service call charge after 30 days.
90 days – 2 years 50% (Parts only) – Customer responsible for labor and service call.
2 years – 10 years 20% (Parts only) – Customer responsible for labor and service call.

Both original and warrantied parts and labor must be furnished by Dave Smith Appliance Services LLC only at our regular rates. Warranty parts pricing is determined by current Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Customer must have original service receipt and proof of warranty. This warranty applies to in home service provided by Dave Smith Appliance Services LLC only and does not cover parts purchased over the counter or sold online. Exclusions: These parts are covered for the manufactures warranty only: filters, lamps, fuses, and all cosmetic and non-functional parts. Limited Coverage: Refrigeration system components, electronic control boards, ice makers, all tubs, tub bearings, disposals, and transmissions have limited coverage to two years prorated only. No Warranty For: Acts of God (lightning, voltage surge, water damage, etc.), customer misuse or abuse, corrosive environment (i.e. sulphur, hard water, sediment, humidity, etc.), failure due to inadequate venting/air flow or insufficient water/gas pressure or voltage/electrical supply or improper installation, or if parts become no longer available. No refunds. No warranty coverage or reimbursements will be given for repairs made by the customer, by any other individual, or by any other service company not authorized by Dave Smith Appliance Services LLC in writing.
