Anyone who has done without a dishwasher for any length of time knows how valuable they are. They are a wonderful asset to our already demanding lives. Here are a few tips to keep your dishwasher in perfect working order.
1. Scraping vs. washing: no one wants to wash their dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. If that was necessity there would be no need for a dishwasher. However, scraping the excess food off of plates is very important, this will help to reduce particles stuck on dishes once the cycle is over.
2. Overcrowding: don’t overcrowd the dishwasher. We’ve all been there, we are exhausted, and it’s easier to just throw a few more dishes in the dishwasher. This will cause you to have to run your appliance a second time. It’s better to hand wash the dishes, or leave them for the next load.
3. Hot Water: let your hot water run from your faucet until it is hot to touch. This will ensure that the water that runs through your dishwasher is hot. If you don’t let the water run first, your first cycle will use cold water.
4. Cycle: choose the correct cycle to run your dishes on. You may want to run your dishwasher on a shorter cycle to save money, and water, but if your dishes are not getting clean and you have to run the cycle again then you are not saving anything.
Following these above tips will help your dishwasher continue to run at it’s best. Taking special care to make sure your dishwasher is run properly will help to avoid it breaking down and will in extend the life of your dishwasher.
