How to Know if Your Refrigerator Is Broken

The refrigerator is the most commonly used appliance in any home, and it is taken for granted more than any other. Rather you need a drink, or you are grabbing a quick snack, you open the door, get what you came for, and close it back up. It may take a while to notice if your fridge isn’t working correctly. There are a few signs to warn you that there is a serious problem with your appliance.

4 Warning Signs

Not Running: a clear sign that there is a serious problem is when your refrigerator stops running. However, this is something that you may not notice right away, unless your house is extremely quiet.

Compressor: if your compressor is the problem, you won’t be able to hear it run. In the back of your fridge you should hear a humming noise, this is a sign of the compressor functioning properly.

Frost Buildup: when frost builds up on the coils on the inside panel of your refrigerator, this can cause your refrigerator’s temperature to be erratic.

Condenser: there are coils that are located under the fridge; when they become dirty from built-up dust, and dirt, they can cause serious problems with your condenser.

If you notice any of the above signs, make sure to call a professional right away. Many people choose to put off repairs for various reasons, but having your appliance fixed at the first sign of a problem can save you time, and money.
